CWC Wonderful Wednesday

Welcome to Funky Cards
CWC Wonderful Wednesday

This week the ladies at My Paper Crafting World are teaming up with the I Feel the Love Project to design and create handcrafted greeting cards for the parents of Baby Mason.  Baby Mason was just six months old when his life was taken because the car he was riding in was struck by a drunk driver.  His grieving parents can really use our support and love as they go through this difficult time in their lives.  Please consider joining us this month as we take the time to show we care by sending and sharing our thoughts in the form of greeting cards.  This week my mom Cindy and I have both made cards to share with you.

Here is my mom's card.  She used the Kate's ABCs Cricut cartridge to create a vase full of flowers and added a sentiment that says, "God Bless You."

To give a bit of a pop, the flowers are 3D paper flowers with added gems in the middle. (click on the photo to enlarge.)

I used the Florals Embellish to create my card.
The sentiment reads, "Praying for your comfort in this season of sadness."  The sentiment was paired with the greens, purples, and blues.  I thought these colors looked really soothing.  The card was embossed and inked and paper flowers were added for the finishing touches.

Please be sure to visit the My Paper Crafting World blog to see all the other thoughtful cards and projects the design team members have created for you this week.

Thanks for stopping by!

Graduation Day!!

Welcome to Funky Cards

Today is the day!  My High School Graduation!

For those of you who have followed me from the beginning, you may remember that I was just 14 years old and just a Freshman in High School when I first started my blog.

After getting to know many wonderful, fabulous, and extremely talented crafters, I am now 18 years old and hours away from graduating high school.

Of course I wouldn't be me if I didn't do a little
"crafting" to my cap.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who have supported me these past four years.  The journey is just getting started and I look forward to many new adventures together.  God Bless you all.

Keep the Cards Coming!

Welcome to Funky Cards

The cards continue to arrive for Baby Mason's family, the June 2013 recipients of the I Feel the Love Project handcrafted cards.

With each card that arrives I am reminded that each day is a gift and one too many of us take for granted.  Remember, Baby Mason lost his life when a driver decided to drive drunk and then lose control of his car striking the car that Baby Mason and his family were riding in.  Please share your love and support for his grieving parents by taking a few moments to create a card to share with them.  They will be able to hold onto these treasures forever.  To find out where to send your cards, click HERE.

 Made by Ms. Sandi

If you aren't feeling creative you can help by making a small donation to the I Feel the Love Project, which is now a nonprofit, charitable corporation.  Your gift would allow us to purchase gift cards to send to our monthly recipients to purchase items such as food, clothes, gas, and other items that they may need.  100% of your donations go towards these items, as the I Feel the Love Project is run on a strictly volunteer basis.  You can make a donation online by clicking on the Donate icon on the right scroll bar, or learn more about donations by visiting our new website and clicking on the Donation Page, or clicking HERE.

We have launched a new website.  I would like
to invite you to stop by and check it out.
Feel free to share this site with family and friends.

Never Forget Baby Mason

   Welcome to Funky Cards

This month the I Feel the Love Project is highlighting a very special little angel, Baby Mason.  Baby Mason received his wings when he was just six months old.  Unfortunately, he was killed when the car he was riding in was struck by a drunk driver.  His family is devastated as you can well imagine.  At the time that this video was taken, Baby Mason was still in the hospital fighting for his life.

As Baby Mason's uncle states in the video, the actions of one person can have life changing consequences for a family.  The driver of the other car chose to drink and drive and that decision changed the Villarreal family forever.

Although we cannot change the past, we can offer our support and love to help bring about a sense of peace, love, and compassion to this family.  Please join the I Feel the Love Project in creating handcrafted cards to send to the parents of Baby Mason to let them know that we are here to support them through this difficult time in their lives.

1507 and Counting

Welcome to Funky Cards

WE DID IT!!  Or should I say you did it!  Again!  I never had any doubt that we would reach our goal of 1500 cards.  As the month drew to a close and the cards came in for Reggie and Ashley, the numbers grew and we collected a total of 30 cards for Reggie and Ashley bringing our total of cards for the I Feel the Love Project to 1507!!!  I am so happy right now.

I just announced that because of your loyal following, the I Feel the Love Project is expanding and is now a nonprofit corporation.  This will allow the I Feel the Love Project to raise money so that we can do more for our monthly recipients.  We will be able to send them gift cards to help them with purchases they may need to make, i.e., gas, food, clothes... or maybe even just buy a special toy!

I also just announced that we now have a new website:

If you haven't had the chance to check it out yet, please do.

There will be a lot of news in the next few months so please stay tuned and be a part of this exciting, charitable, fabulous organization.  You will be happy you did!!  I am so grateful to all of you who have been with me so far!

Have a great day and thank you for stopping by.

Craft with Cutters Challenge #137

This week the ladies at My Paper Crafting World are celebrating the letter "S"  as we are crafting with Cricut cartridges that start with the letter "S."  This week my mom Cindy and I have both made cards to share with you.

Here is my mom's card: The inspiration for my project was easy!

I just found out that my son, Dalton, earned a promotion. Dalton is now a Petty Officer 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy. Congratulations Dalton on a job well done and thank you for your service!

The anchor and sailor hat were cut from the
Stand and Salute Cricut cartridge.

The sentiment was generated using the Cameo.

My card, the second card, was made for a friend.

As you can probably guess, this card was made using the Sports Mania Cricut cartridge. This was a fun card to make and I liked the way it turned out!

Please be sure to visit the My Paper Craft World blog to see all the other adorable cards and projects the design team members have created for you this week.

I Feel the Love Project June 2013

Welcome to Funky Cards
Honoring a Precious Child
Baby Mason

This month the I Feel the Love Project will be shining the light on a precious child whose life was cut short because of the careless actions of another.  Please read his story.

Mason's Story:
Those who knew little Mason Villegas knew he was a fighter. Mason was diagnosed with a respiratory condition at birth. His parents frequently visited Valley Baptist Medical Center for check ups. It was this very hospital baby Mason was taken to on a Sunday evening in September of 2012.  He was riding in a car with his mother Yvette and her friend Lyanna Casares when they were struck by a drunk driver. The driver fled the scene and was later tracked down by the police.

"He got the worst of it,” said Billy Villarreal, Mason's uncle. “He got jammed up between the passenger seat, and the whole back seat was just smashed in together, with him in the middle." Mason sustained a fractured skull, a broken nose, and dangerous brain swelling. Sadly, on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, just three days later, baby Mason earned his wings at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Baby Mason was just 6 months old.

Villarreal says this has opened his family's eyes to the horrors of drunk driving, and how one person's carelessness can cause such damaging consequences.

Friends, this is a family who desperately needs our love and support.  Not only are they grieving the loss of their precious child, they are also having to deal with the criminal justice system as they fight for justice for Mason.  This month we are asking for sympathy cards, thinking of you, anything appropriate for grieving parents.  Baby Mason's parents are Yvette and Santiago Villega, Jr.  Please consider joining us this month as we honor a child who brought such joy to his family with a smile that captured everyone's heart.  Together we can make a difference.
If you would like to be a part of this project...

Exciting News! Must Read!

Welcome to Funky Cards

Exciting News! On the eve of the I Feel the Love Project's 2nd anniversary, we have breaking news. The I Feel the Love Project is now a non-profit charitable corporation!

With a lot of hard work, mounds of paper work, and many hours under our belt, we can now officially state that we are a California non-profit corporation.

With this status we are officially beginning a fundraising campaign.  In addition to sending handcrafted cards to our monthly recipients, we would also like to raise money so that we can include gift cards. We envision gift cards to purchase items such as:  -gas  -food  -clothes  -entertainment.

These items would help give family members of those going through a difficult time the ability to travel, share a meal together, buy clothes after a disaster, purchase a small gift for a birthday...  Most likely we will be sending $10 gift cards, which means we need to start raising money.

Donations would help cover the costs of postage to ship our monthly projects, miscellaneous office and fundraising supplies, and other necessary expenses to run the I Feel the Love Project.

The I Feel the Love Project runs strictly on a volunteer basis, as there are no paid positions.  We rely solely on the support of donations and fundraising efforts.  100% of the money we receive goes towards all the items listed above.

There are many ways to help.
Here is how you can get involved:

Be a part of the I Feel the Love Fundraising Drive
  • Make a private donation
  • Make a group donation
  • Hold your own hometown fundraiser
  • Spread the word using your social media contacts
 Donations accepted via PayPal
(see icon on right side bar) or by mail:

    Digi Desserts- #18

    Welcome To Funky Cards

Welcome to Digi Desserts Fridaze! Every Friday we create a fabulous variety of projects highlighting the fabulous digi stamps you can find at Papercraftingworld.com.

I look forward to seeing you here on Fridays when I share my digi projects with you.  Whether you are new to digi stamps or an old pro, there is something for everyone.  Today I want to share a card that my mom Cindy and I made for today's challenge using another adorable digi from PapercraftingWorld.

This adorable digi stamp comes pre-colored and black and white. If you have followed our Digi Desserts Fridaze projects, you will know that we love to change things up and by using Photoshop, create a different look for each Digi Stamp.

The inspiration for today's card is my mom's physical therapist aide, Lauren.  Lauren is leaving California and heading to Georgia to graduate school.  We just love her so much and will truly miss her.  Lauren has one of those bubbly personalities and she was so fun to be around.  She made physical therapy enjoyable for my mom.  Thank you Lauren.  We miss you!

Lauren is headed out of town in style.  We specifically dressed her in a khaki skirt and blue blouse and gave her a touch of make up.

To finish off her outfit, you can see that we added a purse.  We love mixing digi stamps and Cricut cuts.  The purse was cut using the Formal Occasions Cricut cartridge.  A brad was added and the purse was inked to make it look just right!

The airplane was cut from the Going Places Cricut cartidge.

Now take a moment to head over to My Paper Craft World to see what the other design team members have created for you today.

Have a wonderful day.  Thank you for stopping by!
    ~Madison and Cindy
